Composing your CSE Program
Composing your CSE Program means making a series of choices. You do not have to compose your full program at the start. You will be asked to submit your Program of Examinations (PoE) to the examinations committee for approval when you have completed approximately 45 credits. The Study & Career Orientation Program (SCOP/e) can help you in making these choices and will facilitate submitting your PoE. Included in this program is the appointment of an academic mentor who can support you in composing your program.
You have to register for your courses as well as the exams via Osiris. Exam schedules for all courses you are enrolled in can be found in TE Timetable.
Choices
The CSE Master curriculum distinguishes three focus areas:
- Algorithms and Theory,
- Architecture and Systems,
- Software and Analytics.
Each of these focus areas is captured by a set of foundational courses and deepening courses (see focus area page for details). You obtain breadth in research by selecting a foundational course from each focus area, and specialize in one of the focus areas by selecting additional foundational or deepening courses. In the second half of your studies, you participate in one of the research seminars, bringing you to the forefront of research in your chosen direction.
Specifically, the 120 credits of the CSE Master are allocated as follows:
- Foundational courses (15 credits)
- Specialization (15 credits)
- CSE electives (30 credits)
- Free electives (15 credits)
- Seminar (5 credits)
- Graduation (40 credits)
